First, do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy (8-14). The first ones to see Baby Jesus were shepherds living out in the fields nearby. They were humble, hardworking and spiritually alert. An angel appeared to them in heavenly glory to announce the good news that is great joy for all people: Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. After this, a great company of angels sang to them of glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men. The gospel brings glory to God and peace to those who welcome the Savior. Second, the baby lying in the manger (15-20). The sign of the Savior was a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. This was a very humble sign that only humble people can appreciate. God came into the world as a poor baby lying in a smelly manger. The shepherds received the sign and then spread the word. Have you received the good news? Are you spreading the word?
Application: Lord, I rejoice in the Baby Jesus who came to save us from our sins. I welcome you into my heart.
One Word: A Baby lying in a manger is God's glory
